About us

Austin Media & Design is a Sydney based, multi-disciplinary, independently-owned design studio.

Our work encompasses print and digital graphics, branding and identity, strategy, websites, advertising, communications, social, and motion.

Structure

Our structure is unique - the business owners are the creators of the work and serve as the primary contact for every client. This structure is reflected our conviction that great design cannot happen without passion, planning, thought and effort. You can see this in a portfolio that spans three decades, many industries, and clients of every size. We also work with PR, packaging and marketing companies to fill any internal gaps they have in their skillset.

Everything is created to drive each business's desired outcome. We have a proven track record of producing high-quality, award-winning visual designs from concept to execution and marketing.

Robin Austin

Founder & Creative Director

Robin's first job out of school was working for Century Magazines, and he immediately knew that was his career path.

After a successful career that took him from working on large circulation men's, car and surfing print magazines for ACP and EMAP, Robin adapted his skill set and moved into digital.

His first major role in digital was as Design Director for Tablet and Mobile at ACP Magazines (later becoming Bauer Media). He worked on launching iPad magazines in Australia, developing design styles and workflows partnering with external development companies to build the apps.

From here, Robin moved to an edu-tech start-up to create a dual-language web platform.

In 2017 the transition to starting his design studio was a logical next step. Taking an extensive corporate knowledge base to help a range help businesses be found, seen, remembered and become more successful.

As the business developed, Robin was fortunate enough to be asked by Sydney University to lecture Publishing Design to Post Grad Students. This extension of his work has been a key creative driver and something he enjoys immensely.
